Lost Horizon Country

Nepal is a country of extremes. Snow-capped mountain ranges, tropical jungles, lush vegetation during monsoon season, colourful prayer flags flying in the wind – impressions even the experienced traveller will never forget…

Magical Country and Literary City

Using our Easter holidays for a short city trip, we went to Edinburg for a few days.

Having grown up in a medieval town myself, I still wonder how these historical places resemble each other.

You will find narrow alleys and stairways, beautiful cathedrals, combining Romanesque and Gothic architecture, as well as a castle on a hill serving as the landmark of the city.

As a booklover I was especially impressed how literature and writers have influenced the city – there are not too many cities where you find a museum dedicated to the country’s most famous writers as well as a station named after a novel…

Unfortunately we only had one day to visit the countryside, the untamed nature around the beautiful Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, but I am quite sure that this was not our last visit to this beautiful country…

A Journey to the Emerald Island…

Spending a few days of my Easter holidays travelling through Ireland, I simply have to say that I am overwhelmed by the cultural heritage and the natural beauty of this green island.

I want to find time for a longer trip, maybe renting a car and driving through the beautiful countryside and along the rough coastline.

Here are just some impressions…

Work in Progress

Right now I am in love with printmaking again.

I want to turn some of my favourite pictures of our journeys of the last years into linocut prints.

That is going to be a bit of a project…

Things I Like Today

It seems that blogging has gone viral in my family…

My partner has just started his own blog. He wants to write about our travel experiences and share some beautiful travel impressions.

The name of his blog ‘Sehepunkte’ refers to the idea that every person has their own unique point of view and observes the world in a different way.

Incredible India…

Having spent the last three weeks in India travelling the beautiful state of Rajasthan with all its smiling people, opulent palaces and ancient temples, lush vegetation and delicious, exotic food, I find it quite hard to settle in again.

It feels very comforting to experience a culture and a way of life so different from our western values and makes you see things in perspective again…
