I’m doing quite a lot of printmaking at the moment for an upcoming exhibition in September.
So here is what I’ve done so far – basically different versions of plants in a pot.
First I printed the plants and then I printed a kind of frame around them using the monotype technique.
All of them were done without a press.
There are several ways to create prints without a printing press and since I don’t have one at the moment I like to experiment with different printmaking techniques. Monotype prints are easy to make. I used sponge rubber as a printing plate on which I applied linocut colour because acrylic colour doesn’t really work for printing. Then I put a piece of handmade paper on the plate and drew on it with the back of a pencil. It did not always work but these pieces turned out quite nice.
