Looking Closely at Nature

Lately I’ve been somehow obsessed with nature drawings.

Leaves and flowers are slowly withering as fall is arriving, so I did some ink drawings of this natural process.

Some New Prints…

I haven’t done any printmaking for a while but now I want to start again with linocuts and woodcuts.  I would like to do more of these…

Lush Nature

Although it has been raining a bit all day I went out and took some shots of the lush
vegetation after this refreshing summer rain.

Ink Drawings

These drawings were done quickly with black drawing ink in a small sketchbook.
Often the sketches done without much effort are sometimes the ones which are most interesting…

Cutting into Wood

Last week I bought some wooden panels and did my first woodcuts.

If you choose a soft wood like limetree, cutting into wood doesn’t require much more strength than cutting into a lino plate.

You can also use linocut colours for printing.

Pastel Pictures

I rediscovered pastel drawing pencils and did these small pictures with them.

They should also serve as inspiration sketches for a series of woodcuts I want to do.

Let’s see how that’s going to work out…

Small Sketches

I love drawing, painting and collages so I did these small sketches recently using some pages of old books and other collage material.

Even if you can’t always see the original material any longer, I feel that the sketches have a different quality than paintings on simple white paper.
