Awakening Nature

Strolling through a forest in spring is always inspiring, especially when you look at nature with a macro lens. These are some of my experiments…

Country of the Master Painters

Most Europeans travel to Amsterdam once or twice when they are young for obvious reasons.
I have never been to the capital of the Netherlands before, which I kind of regret.

The city is really  charming and a paradise for lovers of fine art.

Besides whole museums devoted to master painters like Rembrandt and Van Gogh, you will find a beautiful idyllic landscape with windmills and green pastures, which makes it easy to imagine how this country has been a source of inspiration for the most skillful artists ever.

New Close-ups

Since I got myself a Christmas present, a new macro lens for my camera, I couldn’t wait to try it out as soon as possible…

Lost Horizon Country

Nepal is a country of extremes. Snow-capped mountain ranges, tropical jungles, lush vegetation during monsoon season, colourful prayer flags flying in the wind – impressions even the experienced traveller will never forget…

Rainy Day at the Lakeside

There is a beautiful little village at the “Traunsee”, called “Traunkirchen”, which I like to visit all year round.

Although it’s very nice there in summer, when you enjoy the cool breeze from the cold lake, only on a rainy day you will find this kind of mystical atmosphere…

Frozen Beauty

I have been strolling through town today with my camera and took these pictures of the frozen beauty. Even the colour palette looks cold…

Mystical Late Autumn Landscape

I haven’t been blogging for ages. The reason is that I took on a new job. Besides teaching languages, I’m also teaching art at a secondary school, which means a lot of fun and creative ideas but also some challenge since I’m quite new to teaching this subject.

Before I went to school yesterday I took these pictures of the nearby `Hallstättersee´, a place well known for its famous town Hallstatt and surrounding high mountains.

At this time of the year it’s not very busy there but the place still conveys its mystical, wild beauty.
