For the last three days I took part in a collage workshop.
We were asked to do collages about our future hopes and dreams, using a variety of materials such as pieces of old magazines, handmade paper, chalks, charcoal, acrylics or ink.
I found the process of creating the collages extremely inspiring and also much fun.
I also printed some of my floral printing plates on Japanese collage paper and gift tags.
It seemed to be a creative day…
I love drawing, painting and collages so I did these small sketches recently using some pages of old books and other collage material.
Even if you can’t always see the original material any longer, I feel that the sketches have a different quality than paintings on simple white paper.
Drawing is nice but printing is even nicer…
So I turned some of my sketches into small linocut prints. I also added parts of nice Japanese paper to some of the prints.
I like the collage-like look of them.
I’ve been working on some nice Christmas cards and packaging recently.
I got very simple brown packages and tags and printed on them. I also used pages of old books which I painted over with gold and silver linocut colour. Finally I decorated some of the tags with Christmas washi tape.
They look pretty nice, don’t they?
Some new sketches I did with acrylics and watercolours. My sketchbook’s getting thicker and thicker…
… are these small sketches of everyday objects.
I’ve always wanted to try oil painting and now I just got a bunch of colours and gave it a try.
To make the abstract paintings more interesting I added some pieces of scrap paper with gel medium and a bit of texture using very fine sand.
Oil painting is a very difficult medium but the colours are so bright and beautiful…
