I also printed some of my floral printing plates on Japanese collage paper and gift tags.
It seemed to be a creative day…
I’ve been working on some nice Christmas cards and packaging recently.
I got very simple brown packages and tags and printed on them. I also used pages of old books which I painted over with gold and silver linocut colour. Finally I decorated some of the tags with Christmas washi tape.
They look pretty nice, don’t they?
I’ve always wanted to try oil painting and now I just got a bunch of colours and gave it a try.
To make the abstract paintings more interesting I added some pieces of scrap paper with gel medium and a bit of texture using very fine sand.
Oil painting is a very difficult medium but the colours are so bright and beautiful…
Since I haven’t done any prints for a long time I decided to make room on my desk and use it as a kind of printmaking studio (although a very small one…). I bought a good roller, new linocut colours and of course printing plates and started to carve. I just love the versatility of printmaking – you never really know what you get. You can print over a boring piece and suddenly it turns out to be really interesting. It’s just great!
I wanted to do something with old book pages so I painted them and made this paper garland. I also got lots of paper scraps that way which I am going to use for my next collages…
