Country of the Master Painters

Most Europeans travel to Amsterdam once or twice when they are young for obvious reasons.
I have never been to the capital of the Netherlands before, which I kind of regret.

The city is really  charming and a paradise for lovers of fine art.

Besides whole museums devoted to master painters like Rembrandt and Van Gogh, you will find a beautiful idyllic landscape with windmills and green pastures, which makes it easy to imagine how this country has been a source of inspiration for the most skillful artists ever.

Ink Drawings with Artist Pens

These ink drawings were done with artist brush pens, using a set of landscape colours.

Landscape drawing can be tricky. How much detail do you need to draw to create an accurate picture of the place?

These small drawings show the idyllic Austrian “Salzkammergut” region.

Fall at the Lake

There is a small town situated at a dark and deep lake in the middle of Austria. If you visit this town called Hallstatt, you will find a most idyllic place, preserved and protected from the changes of time.

Try to visit it late in the day to avoid the tourist buses and walk the small path above the main lake esplanade, then you might still catch the mystic beauty of this place.

Drawing the Summer

Whenever I travel, I take some drawing material with me. These drawings were inspired by the picturesque Greek island Chios which we travelled to last year…

I’m looking forward to sketching while travelling through Nepal this summer!

Sketches of Maritime Life

Although it won’t be Greece for holiday this summer I’m looking forward to warmer days and therefore did these coloured sketches of ocean life…

Rainy Day at the Lakeside

There is a beautiful little village at the “Traunsee”, called “Traunkirchen”, which I like to visit all year round.

Although it’s very nice there in summer, when you enjoy the cool breeze from the cold lake, only on a rainy day you will find this kind of mystical atmosphere…

Idyllic Austrian Village

We’ve got quite a lot of small and pretty villages here in Austria.

St.Wolfgang is probably one of the most popular ones with tourists because of its lake view and surrounding gentle hills and mountains.

At this time of the year it’s very quiet there as well…
