The Beauty of Primary Colours…

I’ve been working on this one oil painting for weeks now and I still can’t finish it.

I like the bright primary colours and the texture created by adding some sand to the paints…

Patterns and Ornaments

We’ve been to Istanbul for a few days and visited some of the amazing palaces and mosques. Here are just some impressions of all the colourful mosaics, patterns and ornaments you can find there. Beautiful and inspiring…

Work in Progress…

Oil painting is my passion at the moment. I just love the creamy texture and the brightness of the colours. You can work over the colours again and again because of the long drying time. In the end a painting might look totally different…

Oil Paintings

I’ve always wanted to try oil painting and now I just got a bunch of colours and gave it a try.

To make the abstract paintings more interesting I added some pieces of scrap paper with gel medium and a bit of texture using very fine sand.

Oil painting is a very difficult medium but the colours are so bright and beautiful…

Working on some new prints…

I haven’t had much time recently for printmaking but I made these linocuts. The forms are quite simple but I liked to print them in different colour variations.

Another Printmaking Session…

Printmaking can become addictive, so I did another series of linocut prints. I also added some pieces of paper and printed over them to create a kind of texture. I also really like the way the colours mix when printed over each other.

Monotypes

There are several ways to create prints without a printing press and since I don’t have one at the moment I like to experiment with different printmaking techniques. Monotype prints are easy to make. I used sponge rubber as a printing plate on which I applied linocut colour because acrylic colour doesn’t really work for printing. Then I put a piece of handmade paper on the plate and drew on it with the back of a pencil. It did not always work but these pieces turned out quite nice.
